His initial and focal objective is to grow the AAU community. His fresh perspective and innovative ideas are already thriving as he plans to hold a regional qualifying track meet to the AAU Junior Olympic Games in 2016.
A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Oliver became the county champion in the 100 and 200 meters and competed at the state track and field championship in high school. During his senior year, Oliver also led his basketball team to the state championship, and his jersey was retired once his high school career ended. He then went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Alabama State University. He has been profoundly involved with AAU throughout his entire life. Starting out as an athlete and then to coach, Oliver later led a popular club for over three years. He has worked numerous district and regional qualifier meets as well as recently served on the Grunt Krewe for the 2015 AAU Junior Olympic Games.
Oliver currently resides in Seattle, Washington with his lovely wife, Denise, and their two children. He remains a strong fan and supporter of the Tennessee Volunteers and Alabama State Hornets. He has also been very fortunate to have been mentored by some of the best US track and field coaches. Oliver believes that with sound instruction and good planning, great things are possible.
