A new age division will be added this year for select indoor events for AAU Track and Field. The AAU Northern Indoor Nationals (January 16- 18), 14-Under Youth National Indoor Championship (March 5-6), AAU Mid Season Indoor Invitational Championship (January 10) and the inaugural AAU Indoor Track and Field National Championships (March 12-13) in Maryland will be the first events to host this age group, which will feature athletes ranging from 19 to 22 years old.
Charles Oliver, National Chair of AAU Athletics, is looking forward to this new opportunity for older athletes.
“I am very excited to announce the additional opportunities for competition for this age group,” said Oliver. “We have added events into many of our meets for the athletes in this age range.”
In the past, age groups have been capped at 18 years of age, taking away the opportunity for the 19 year olds in high school the chance to compete.

“We have found that we have many members that do not get to compete in our meets once they turn 19 years of age,” Oliver said. “We strive to promote physical fitness as well as competitive opportunities for our members and we feel that this is an excellent opportunity to keep our track and field members engaged in the sport.”
This age division will be added to additional indoor and outdoor meets. Information on these events and all upcoming AAU Track and Field events can be found on www.aauathletics.org or you can click the links below.
