AAU SPOTLIGHT: MADGE ANDERSON

AAU member Madge Anderson is the founder and coach of the White Plains Future Stars Track Team, an AAU Athletics club. She was recently awarded the Guiding Light Award at the White Plains Youth Bureau’s 45thAnniversary Gala. Read Madge Anderson’s full résumé from the gala’s program below.

Maggalene (Madge) Carter-Anderson was born in Westchester County and attended school in the White Plains Public School District, actively participating in Track and Field. Madge’s efforts earned her All-County honors in the Indoors 55 Meter Hurdles and Dashes. Upon graduation, she went on to compete at the collegiate level at the University of Southern California. Madge was a formidable competitior in the 100 and 400 Meter Hurdles and the 100, 200 and 400 meter run events. After four consistent seasons of strong athletic performance, and earning her undergraduate credentials in Political Science and Marketing, Madge returned to the Westchester region. She subsequently chose to apply her business knowledge, marketing savvy and client care for many years within the fashion industry.

After departing from the business sector, Madge decided to set her sights on supporting the youth within her community. With the support of her husband, Anthony Anderson, and the help of Frank Williams, she conceptualized and implemented the White Plains Future Stars Track Team. Although beginning with only eight young ladies ages 8 and 10 years old, the team has grown leaps and bounds. Many on her team’s roster earned numerous accolades under her caring leadership and coaching. Members of her team have gone on to compete at Temple University, UCONN, ECU, Boston College, Towson University, Brown, Penn State and the University of Pennsylvania, just to name a few.

Currently, Madge works at Bronx Park Middle School, within the New York City Department of Education. She also has begun her second year as a coach at Rye Country Day School for Track and Field. Ms. Anderson’s biggest fans are her twin sons, Jason and Jordan, that travel with her to every meet.
