The AAU Central California District is proud to announce that the winner of the Pat Kavadas Scholarship is Madison Meredith of Monache High School in Porterville, California!

In her senior year of high school, Madison was a member of the Monache High School water polo team and the swim team.  She was also active in band, the science fair, Link Crew and is an Honor Roll student.  Madison has chosen to attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and plans on majoring in Environmental Science.

The Pat Kavadas Memorial Scholarship is named after the “Mother of the AAU” and has been given out annually since 2007. Pat Kavadas volunteered over 35 years of service to student athletes in the Central Valley area and across the country. Her love for athletics and kids has prompted the Central California Amateur Athletic Union, and the many donors to honor and reward a deserving graduating senior and to assist in their educational and career goals. Every year, one winner is chosen and receives $500 in scholarship money. To date, the scholarship has given out over $4,000.

To be chosen as the winner, you must be a graduating senior in high school that will be attending a junior college, college or university in the fall after high school graduation. Qualifications also include a 3.0 GPA, community service hours and participation in a varsity sport. For more information on this scholarship, please visit www.centralcalaau.com/pat.cfm.
