PALM BEACH COUNTY 2014 HALL OF FAME

“The 2014 Hall of Fame inductees represent an elite class of athletes and individuals who have a passion for and commitment to sports. Each person represents the diversity of talent prevalent in Palm Beach County,” said Joe Ceravolo, Chairman of the Hall of Fame Committee. “We are proud to have them as part of our community and honored to have them join the other 258 accomplished athletes and professionals that are members of the Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame.”

One of the inductees was a former AAU athletics member, Ramona Saridakis Bean.

At eight years old, Ramona joined the Palm Beach County’s student-athlete community. Through junior high she represented her school and Palm Beach County in the national Junior Olympics and AAU track and cross country meets. She finished second in the nation and broke the Florida record in the 3000m for her age division. In high school, Ramona earned cross country individual state champion titles three times and led the Cardinal Newman team to the state title. In track, she was Florida’s four-time state champion in 3200m and three-time state champion in 1600m. She was the state champion in the 1995 “Meet of State Champions” for 1600m and 3200m. Ramona earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Florida where she continued to represent Palm Beach County as an integral member of an elite team that produced several SEC championships.
