ORLANDO, Fla. – The first Saturday of December will be filled with AAU competition with both the 2020 AAU Cross Country National Championship and 2020 AAU Racewalk National Championships running simultaneously. Both events will be held on Saturday, December 5 at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla.
It is estimated that 2,000 AAU athletes from 116 different clubs will participate in the 2020 Cross Country National Championships. The race will be run on the Cross Country Playground on the Apalachee Regional Park Trail, an innovative course that is designed to give runners the opportunity to run on several types of surfaces.
The day’s events will also feature the 2020 AAU Racewalk National Championships, which will mark the first time the sport will have its own standalone AAU national championship. To help prepare and introduce AAU athletes to the sport, former Olympian Gary Morgan will host a free racewalking clinic on Friday afternoon. The clinic is tentatively scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
The priority of the Amateur Athletic Union is the health and safety of our athletes. We are proud to be able to host several of our National Championships around the nation when and where it is deemed safe to do so. Precautions related to social distancing, masks, hand sanitizer and other requirements will be implemented at this event. We will follow the order of the CDC and the state of Florida’s guidelines as they evolve and will provide updates as they become necessary.
