40 years after her mother won a NCAA Indoor Title in the 800m, AAU Alumni Talitha Diggs takes the crown in the 400m.

ORLANDO, Fla. (2022) -- 40 years after her mother won the NCAA 800 meter, Talitha Diggs took home the NCAA Indoor crown in the 400 meter race over the weekend in Birmingham, Alabama at the 2022 NCAA Indoor National Championships.

Talitha Diggs is the daughter of the 4-time Olympian, Joetta Clark Diggs. Joetta captured her first NCAA Indoor title in 1982 as she took the crown in the 800 meter race. Joetta would go on to become a 3-time indoor champion while at the University of Tennessee in the 1980s. She would also compete for Team USA in the Olympics in 1988, 1992, 1996, and 2000.

Talitha is looking to follow in her mother’s footsteps and carve out a new path for herself. Diggs was a major contributor for the University of Florida’s Women’s Track and Field team as the team took home its second national championship in program history and the 11th overall for Florida's track and field program. Talitha scored big points in the 400 meters by running a personal best of 50.98 in the first heat to win her first NCAA Championship. Her time is also the second-fastest in school history.

Joetta Clark Diggs and Talitha Diggs are both Amateur Athletic Union Alumni, winning multiple AAU events along the way. Talitha was an AAU Track and Field member in 2016 - 2018 and in 2020. After capturing her first NCAA Indoor National Championship, the Florida Gators standout looks to continue to add to her resume and take home more hardware.
