RECAP: 2022 AAU Cross Country National Championships

The finish line has been crossed and athletes have been crowned AAU National Champions. A little over 1,500 athletes met in Knoxville with hopes of winning a National Championship

2022 AAU Cross Country National Championships

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (December 7, 2022) – The finish line has been crossed and athletes have been crowned AAU National Champions. The best of the best from around the country met in Knoxville, Tennessee on December 3, 2022 for the AAU Cross Country National Championships.
For the third time, Knoxville played host to the AAU Cross Country Nationals. More than 1,500 athletes raced through the historic, Victor Ashe Park, a challenging two-mile course located in the heart of Knoxville.
Joining the athletes racing through Victor Ashe Park were Open/Master Division runners and AAU Parents/Coaches. The Open/Master Division runners kicked the event off with a 5K, while the parents and coaches closing out the event with a 3K trek. Athletes were placed into 6 age-based divisions: 6 & under Boys and Girls, 7-8 year old Boys and Girls, 9-10 year old Boys and Girls, 11-12 year old Boys and Girls, 13-14 year old Boys and Girls, and 15-18 year old Men and Women.
"We are always excited to host a AAU National Championship in Knoxville. This is our third time hosting and we look forward to welcoming them again in the future," said Chad Culver, Visit Knoxville Sports Commission Senior Director. "We have great partners in the City of Knoxville and Knoxville Youth Athletics on making the event so successful at Victor Ashe Park."
AAU National Championship medals were awarded to the first 25 individual places for all divisions and the top 8 individual finishers of each age division earned All American patches. Six boys and six girls, including a brother and sister duo, had the honor of going home crowned as AAU National Champions.
6 & Under Boys 1K – Forrest Park – Grassroots Running Club (4:15.47)
6 & Under Girls 1K – Emma Flanigan – Bullseye Running (4:40.33)
7-8 Year Old Boys 2K – Cyrus Boschen – Westchester Striders (7:28.94)
7-8 Year Old Girls 2K – Abigail Riley – V02MAX Track Club (7:40.90)
9-10 Year Old Boys 3K – Braden Millar – Ann Arbor Track Club (11:47.90)
9-10 Year Old Girls 3K – Aria Boschen – Westchester Striders (12:34.35)
11-12 Year Old Boys 3K – Nate Viands – AmblerOC (10:49.01)
11-12 Year Old Girls 3K – Adriana Pettinelli – Tailwind Track Club (12:01.56)
13-14 Year Old Boys 4K – Kamari Ronfeldt – Ann Arbor Track Club (13:14.09)
13-14 Year Old Girls 4K – Paige Sheppard – Speed Skills TC (14:28.97)
15-18 Year Old Boys 5K – Saul Orozco – Pacific Coast Shockwaves (16:22.70)
15-18 Year Old Girls 5K – Abigail Beville – New England Elite (18:55.50)
